Oshkosh Irish Fest 2017 is just around the corner, scheduled for June 10th at Leach Amphitheater. Come help celebrate all things Irish with music, food, and much more at a beautiful park on the water. Céad Míle Fáilte – a hundred thousand welcomes!
9 years in and Oshkosh Irish Fest has become an anticipated local tradition. And why not? Who wouldn’t look forward to a day filled with world class musicians, delicious Irish food, and an Irish marketplace?
2017 also sees the addition of a beer sampling area to the festival. Great Irish beers along with a few regional craft beers will help you to get further into that Irish Fest spirit.
Looking for a more active way to enjoy the day? Join in on the 0.317K Irish Marathon Fun Run! Yes, you read that correctly, 0.317K; about 350 yards. It’s in honor of the date of Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17th, or 3/17.
The 0.317K Irish Marathon begins at 12:30pm at the Leach Amphitheater in Riverside Park… and ends a few moments later rather near the Leach Amphitheater. Volunteers will be on hand to help direct runners who get lost or require a survival pint of beer or soda. Those who finish the grueling course will receive a certificate of achievement, an Olympic-style medal, and a keepsake photo of themselves. Runners are encouraged to “dress Irish.”
Another big draw to Oshkosh Irish Fest is all the great music at the Hooley (Hooley = noisy party). Once again, this year’s schedule looks great!
Oshkosh Irish Fest 2017 Hooley Schedule
12pm – Folk-N-Irish – traditional Irish music and Celtified pop tunes.
1pm – Richards School of the Dance – Irish dancers.
1:30pm – Jeff Ward – traditional songs of Ireland and Scotland.
3pm – Paddygrass – Irish drinking songs, instrumental jigs and reels, bluegrass and folk ballads.
5pm – Curley, Conneely & Broderick – 3 top-tier musicians in the Irisih tradition you’re unlikely to see together anywhere else.
7pm – Wild Colonial Bhoys – an Irish American Celtic rock tour-de-force.
9pm – The Elders – Americana and Celtic folk rock.
The Oshkosh Irish Fest raffle is also becoming something of a tradition, with tickets only $5 and great prizes. Other attractions at Oshkosh Irish Fest include Celtic dancers, cultural displays, and a great area to entertain the kiddies at: Little Leprechaun Land.
Your final incentive is the Leach Amphitheater, itself. This spectacular venue is located in Riverside Park in downtown Oshkosh. The park is at the mouth of the historic Fox River and offers breathtaking views of Lake Winnebago. Seating is limited at the park, so bring those blankets and lawn chairs. We hope to see you there – Sláinte!
