Two Special Weddings

January 7, 2014 by braytonbb

Who doesn’t like a wedding? I would like to introduce you to two special couples that were just married at the end of 2013 and beginning of 2014.

Fawn and Geno Perkins. These two special people have stayed with us several times since we have been open these last 7 years. We enjoy their company each and every time they tell us they are coming for a visit. Last summer Fawn emailed me to tell me that they were getting married. Then she asked me if they could get married in December at the inn when it was all decorated for Christmas. I was not only overjoyed BUT honored that they wanted to not only get married at our inn but have their family and friends stay with us for a weekend as well. We started working on decorations, flowers, food, etc. until finally, Fawn decided since her and Geno have never been out of the country that they would prefer to spend extra on their honeymoon and decided to marry in a small ceremony in Brookfield closer to home. Although disappointed that they would not be marrying at the inn, I totally understood. That Fall, we received and invitation to their wedding which was to take place December 7th at a very small, low key and beautiful pavilion in a park. We were once again honored to be invited and accepted their invitation. We are so happy to share these beautiful pictures.

Rebecca and David. Married January 4, 2014. Not trying to reveal to much about this lovely couple. They wanted their wedding to be kept a secret until later this summer when they will be married again, they wanted me to share their intimate pictures that were taken at the inn this past weekend.  Rebecca and David  were neighbors, not even knowing it until friends had set them up on date. That was all it took for these two people to fall in love. There wedding was small and understated but was perfect for two people just looking to start a life together.

Best Engagement thus far at the inn!

Josh and AlyssaI would like to introduce you to Josh and Alyssa. Josh called me up a few weeks ago wanting to plan something big for his girlfriend Alyssa, who he was planning on asking to marry him. I got right into engagement planner mode asked a lot of questions. Josh brought out all the stops. He wanted a couples massage at Mode Salon, bouquet of flowers in the room when they arrived, chocolates, wine and dinner at Beckets were all reserved along with a pontoon boat ride Captained by my very own Captain Scotty. Then he asks me if I knew of anyone to do a caricature drawing. I didn’t but I made some calls. I didn’t have much luck though in finding anyone to do the job in 4 days, but once again, Josh came through and found someone from the University. We planned for Captain Scotty to drop this lovely couple off at Menomonee park where he would just happen to come across an artist who would ask if they would like there picture to be drawn. Hmmm. Clever, huh? In the picture Josh would be down on one knee proposing. When Alyssa saw the picture, Josh would do the same. Ahhh, how romantic!

Stop! It didn’t quite work out that way. If only the movies played out in real life. The morning Josh and Alyssa were to arrive, Alyssa was so sick that Josh had to cancel everything. I was just as disappointed and let down as Josh. Well, maybe not quite the same. Josh had been so nervous and anxious and I know he really wanted this to go off without a hitch.

No problem, I said, lets do it next weekend. Nice, this poor boy had to wait another whole week, but we were going to make this work. Everything was rescheduled to the best of our ability. When meeting Alyssa for the first time, I was already so excited for her. I played dumb though and always asked lots of questions, but she kept saying that Josh was keeping her in suspense. She really didn’t know what he had planned for the weekend. The third morning they were here, they went out on the boat as planned with a picnic basket that I packed for them. Captain Scotty had it hidden in the boat and after a few hours asked Josh and Alyssa if they wanted to stop at the park for a picnic. TaDah. Lunch already packed! The two had lunch, then appeared the artist, then their portrait and then finally the question was asked? Did she say yes? Of course she did with tears in her eyes all the way back to the inn after calling all loved ones.
What a wonderful couple. We both are so excited for you both and hope that we can celebrate with you in your future plans.

Tahlier Wedding – October 1, 2011

October 2, 2011 by braytonbb

I was able to get a few pics yesterday of a beautiful Fall Day wedding, however I had not met the groom (John) until this morning.  It looks like a cut the heads off in a few of these, but if you click on the picture, you will get the full effect. Sorry, Carolyn. The photographer has assured me that she will send other pictures in about a month.  I wanted to get a few up while I had the chance, since I am not always so punctual. The Tahlier’s were a wonderful family and I hope to see them again in the future.

Trisha and Adam made such a cute couple and I have to say that her wedding dress was truly unique and beautiful. Here a few wedding pictures were able to get over the summer.

Kollat and Sergo Wedding

February 19, 2011 by braytonbb

It was a cool, crisp winter wonderland of a day for the Kollat/Sergo wedding on Jan. 8. As their friends and family gathered around for the night of festivities at the inn the evening before preparing and celebrating for the big day ahead. We have been so lucky to get a few pictures to share with you at the glamorous event.

DeYoung and Friedrich wedding

This wedding over Labor Day was truly incredible. The bride Johanna residing in Virginia planned this special weekend for her family and friends who were wonderful. Each guest had  their own play book so everyone knew what was going on every minute of each day.  It was orchestrated like nothing I had ever seen.  I had the pleasure to get to know so many amazing people. Lunch was served with mimosas and a trolley came to pick the girls up to take them to the Paine.

Lucente Wedding

We hold a lot of small weddings here throughout the summer and Fall. It is so much fun to rent out the entire inn to a family and/or friends of the bride and groom. This recent wedding took place the weekend prior to EAA. Kelly and Dave were a great couple and Laurie Marie took some amazing photos. Kelly stands here in the hallway at the inn and her dress hangs in the Blue Room. It looks so magical!
